Satisfied customers, satisfied bellies, and a lot of food later, our first annual crack at delivering Thanksgiving meals was a rousing success.
Over the course of the days leading up to what is easily our favorite holiday of the year, we cooked:

1 goat cheesecake
1 pumpkin cheesecake
1 sweet potato pie
2 apple pies (1 latticework that was just TO DIE FOR!!!!!!)
8 pans of cornbread
Homemade marshmallows

Ladies and Gentlemen, foodies and farmers alike, fall is here and it’s time to eat.

What do you get when overworked, highly-educated art history students get together for a surrealist party?
Well, drunk, naturally.
Not simply another caterer, we here at GASTROGIANT love puttin’ our food in everyone’s mouth, especially when they’re really hungry. Lucky for us, Patrick is married to a grad student and they didn’t want the same old routine, finger sandwiches and pimento cheese. The result was whimsical and fun — Sloppy Joes on Cheddar Gougeres, Caramel Dipped Sweet Potatoes, Homemade Whole Wheat Vegetarian Enchiladas and even a whole roasted Texas Pumpkin filled with Lamb’s Polenta and Smoked Bacon. Needless to say, there was virtually nothing left.

There was a minute there where gastrogiant and all projects took a minute to breathe, but we’re back, moving full speed ahead.
Since last we spoke, we’ve:
Made some seriously delicious handmade tacos for a cocktail party.
Baked, dropped, broken, and baked another local peach and fig cobbler for the same party.
Made some really good cocktails.
Cooked for Patrick’s wedding, much to the chagrin of his father given that there were copious amounts of leftovers.
And, just last night, cooked yet another in the series of Pitchfork Supper Club dinners.
Last night, August 28th, we headed back to Round Top for the second installment of Pitchfork Supper Club, this time to cook a seasonally inspired “Italian” feast, replete with handmade whole wheat pasta (flour from Richardson Farms), roasted Richardson farms pork loin and the most delicious preparation EVER of Lamb’s Texas stone-ground polenta. The meal was a rousing success, no one left hungry (or sober) and things are already in the works for the fall. We’d love to get the ball rollin here in Austin, too, or anywhere in Texas, really, that needs a great meal and a night of pure fun.
As for the gastrogiant proper, it’s fall, school’s back in session and we’re ready to get cookin. Early winter veggies are hittin the market, apples are startin to pop up and the weather’s eventually gonna start to cool down. Don’t hesitate to call, to plan an event, or just get tips on recipes, cooking classes or any other culinary quandaries you might have.
